Abstract

Over the last two years, our Association, the Nigerian Association of Pharmacists in Academia (NAPA), University of Benin Branch, has planned to publish a pharmacy related journal to promote our impact in the University community while providing a forum for colleagues to publish their research work. This was particularly important for the Faculty as the University of Benin remains a pace setter in pharmacy education in the country and is the only University in Nigeria currently awarding the PharmD degree.

It is of joy to note that the scope of this journal, Journal of Science and Practice of Pharmacy (J Sci Pract Pharm), was broadened to include the publication of research work from all aspects of science including agricultural science and health related disciplines from both national and international communities. The philosophy of the journal that encourages contributors to the journal through constructive advice, and rapid review and publication of their manuscripts adjudged to be of suitable quality as determined by peer-review is rewarding.

I congratulate the members of the Editorial Board that have worked diligently to produce this first issue in a well established format. In particular, I thank the Managing Editor, Dr Valentine Odili, for his major role in the publication.
